“We live to appreciate…to love…to laugh…and to be present. We are here to lend a hand.” These are the words that scrolled across the screen of the company that Meghan bought her wedding dress from. Those are not just the words of a dress company. It is the mantra for Meghan & Jonathan.
The day was overcast. The weather and the seas were calm. And there was a peacefulness emanating from all corners of the bay this July as I arrived on the property of the Sealight in Sullivan, Maine. And this calming feeling never left the entire day.
And that is what it is like being around Meghan and Jonathan. They have an energy that is so soothing, that I could think of no better couple to be photographing for my first official wedding of as a full time photographer. I was so at ease and totally in my element.
These two are so wonderful and if they take care of each other the way they take care of their friends and the way they cared for me, then I have no doubt that these two will last forever. They both knew that my baby was at home sick and that the last couple days hadn’t been that great and no sooner did they see me that they were both asking how Olivia was doing. No business. No photos. It was all about family and making sure I was doing ok. These are the kind of people they are. Warm, caring and genuine.
Their wedding overlooking Frenchman’s Bay was the most unique ceremony I have ever seen, and every bit about it was so Meghan & Jono. Creative and all about breaking the mold and including their loved ones in the event. As the guests arrived, they were all given stones as opposed to programs. And during the ceremony, the officiant asked everyone to squeeze their rocks and fill it blessing and wishes to the new married couple. Those rocks were thrown back into the ocean from where they came, sending their good wishes back into the world. These types of things in addition to the DIY decor that the entire family helped make were what made this wedding so special. The beautiful colors of the dahlias from Sweet Pea Gardens were a lovely compliment to the colors of the sky that provided the most beautiful light for photos on the dock.
Congratulations you two! It was an honor spending the day with you, and I am thrilled to not just call you clients, but to have you as friends.
