The 4th of July. An important day in American history. Everyone has their own holiday traditions, whether they’re going “upta camp” as we say in Maine, or spending the day at the beach, grilling burgers with family, watching fireworks displays….July 4th is time to be with the ones we love and to celebrate the freedoms that we enjoy.
It’s also right about the time where it really doesn’t feel like summer until it’s July 4th. And in my book, it’s not summer until I’ve had my first lobster of the season. We started out this long holiday weekend with a trip to my parents house on Saturday where we brought lobsters, mussels and steamers and kicked this summer off right! My mother had picked fresh strawberries from a local farm that morning and we had fresh salad from our garden.
And this is Olivia’s first 4th of July summer, so this post wouldn’t be complete without a few shots of her. She’s growing so fast!
After Olivia’s photo shoot it was time for lunch!
I enjoyed this little guy soooooo much!
My brother playing with his food….and me encouraging him.
There I go again…playing with my food.
Ok…enough of this…time for more cute baby!
We’ll be spending the day tomorrow watching the parade and strolling around our downtown neighborhood looking for good food and brews. And hopefully…as long as Olivia is willing…catching the fireworks over the Penobscot River.
So more to come tomorrow!
