As I drove into the quaint and quiet town of Camden, and was soon approaching Rockland, the fog was rolling in off the water and the intermittent rain showed no signs of subsiding. There used to be a time when June was the most sot after month for weddings. After the weather we’ve been having this year, I wonder how much longer that will last. But that did not get Amanda and Justin down. They only looked forward as adjustments were to be made to move what had hoped to be a lovely outdoor ceremony, overlooking the golf course and the breakwater, inside to a drier location.
She waited patiently in a private room, sipping champagne with her bridesmaids and looking absolutely stunning in her ivory, a-line gown that had the perfect touch of sparkle and lace. She wore no vail, and it was perfect. A glamorous, clean look topped off by her crystal jewelry and gorgeous pink lips. While down in the bar, Justin and his men relaxed with drinks in hand, dressed to the nines in their formal dress blues….I was in the presence of five Marines. They gathered around the fireplace, which made for a calm cozy backdrop to the grey skies outside. If I didn’t know any better, I would have thought it was winter time.
Amanda and Justin were married one month ago at the Samoset Resort in Rockland, Maine. Because of the weather, I knew that the chance of bringing the two of them outdoors to take photographs was going to prove challenging, but these two were troopers and totally up for indulging me for a bit. And it may not have happened if it wasn’t for my trusty pink umbrella. I keep it in my car for weddings when the weather is just like what these two experienced. Adorned with bright pink and green flowers, it’s always a crap shoot whether or not the umbrella will coordinate with the colors of the day, but low and behold I had hit the jackpot. Amanda’s entire wedding was bursting with pink flowers not to mention the shoes….oh the shoes. Pretty in pink with a lucky penny glued to the bottom. It was the perfect touch. So my pink umbrella saved the day and allowed for us a few minutes in the wind and rain to share a few laughs. Amanda and Justin, I wish you all the love in the world and congratulations on this next chapter in your life.
