Cleo and Dmitri came all the way from California to have their small, private wedding on the coast of Maine. They were already legally married, having gone to the courthouse back home in CA, but wanted to do something special and less formal here in Maine where Dmitri’s parents live. There was no officiant and no traditional exchanging of vows. Instead the bride sang a song and the groom recited a poem. So cute!
Not only are these two adorable, but they are brilliant as well! I’m not kidding. Cleo is a scientist and Dmitri is a software engineer for Google. I had a wonderful day with them learning all about how they met (in a hiking club in California) and about the amazing backgrounds of their families. Cleo’s parents (father is Polish, mother is Japanese) came all the way from Warsaw, Poland to celebrate. Her parent’s split their time between their homes in both Japan and Poland. Dmitri’s parents now call Lubec, Maine home after living in many places on the East Coast.
Their private family ceremony took place at Old Quary Ocean Adventures in Stonington, an adorable spot right on the ocean in the quintessential coastal Maine town. After their garden ceremony we stopped at Lilly’s Cafe for lunch, where they treated me to great food and great stories. After lunch we drove around town stopping at different spots that they had staked out in advance for their photos. The rain held off just enough to get some great coastal shots on the foggy day. And I happen to love overcast days. Great light for photos!
I had a wonderful day with you both and I wish you all the best in your marriage and in life.
