Thalita and Celso were expecting their third baby girl in mid September and through their midwives at the Katy Birth Center found me to document this joyous occasion. They planned a very peaceful home birth and, being that this was their last baby, they knew that photos of this experience were very important to them so that they could document this milestone. It was also especially important to Thalita to have a birth at home where should could bring her baby into the world naturally, with her midwives standing by, coaching her on all the way. This is a practice that is extremely rare in her home country of Brazil where medical intervention is commonplace and the c-section rate is above 75%. She got everything she wanted AND her baby girl arrived on her due date! At just after 1:30 in the morning on September 21st, beautiful Sophie came up out the water, pink and perfect.
It was an absolute honor to photograph this birth and I look forward to more sessions with this family as their children grow. Check back in soon as I will also be sharing a few of my favorites from a quick session that I did with the family the next day when the girls go to meet their baby sister!
