Yesterday had the pleasure of spending the afternoon with friends/clients Samuel & Deandra at their 1 year old daughter Aurora’s birthday party. Aurora doesn’t technically turn 1 till March 9th (we share a birthday!), but it was the weekend and of course it was the best time for family to come over and celebrate.
I first photographed Aurora five months during our Fall portrait session. Aurora was much more interested in eating the leaves then paying attention to the camera. And after Saturday’s birthday party, I’ve learned that this fascination of putting things in babies mouths does not go away! She spent more time eating her presents then enjoying them. But hey! What 1 year-old knows how to enjoy a double pack of hard cover Dr. Seuss books? Eh! She’ll learn!
The birthday girl was surrounded by many generations of family….aunts, uncles, grand parents and even great grand parents. Sam & Dee’s sisters even got in on the fun from their respective states via FaceTime on the iPhone and Skype through the computer. (Did I mention that Sam is very tech savvy?) It was so much fun to spend the afternoon with them and see how much this little girl has grown up. Enjoy the photos. My personal favorites are the progression of the cake eating that, for every 1 year old, is a milestone not to be missed.
